The Christmas village on the campus of the University of Vienna has been known and loved far beyond the region's borders since 1999 for its cosy atmosphere. Craftsmen and businesses from all over Austria transform the Christmas village into an impressive world of indulgence, pampering and experience, where traditional Austrian Christmas can be experienced and savoured in all its facets.

The Christmas village surrounded by an imperial backdrop.

Surrounded by the imperial ambience of the Hofburg and between the Museum of Art and Natural History, the Christmas village delights visitors with rustic arts and crafts, handmade Christmas decorations and a large selection of culinary delights.

Due to extensive construction work to redesign the entrance areas of the Museum of Art and Natural History, the Christmas market on Maria-Theresien-Platz will have to take a break for the next two years. This decision was made by the responsible Burghauptmannschaft, as it is not possible to set up a regular market during the construction phase.
